On This Day it is a tradition to decorate the graves of the soldiers and fly the flag from dawn till noon
Many people visit the cemeteries and memorials, in respect of the soldier who died in the military service.
Many people also place the country flag on each soldier's grave. In Mississippi, this day is also combined with Jefferson Davis' birthday.
This day is an occasion of remembrance, but nowadays people used to celebrate this as a picnic, or sports event and also as a gathering for families.
Memorial Day 2023 will fall on 29 May on moday in 2023.
